Many people have been telling us affordable rail journeys are vital, whether it's to get to university or take their children to visit relatives. We all need rail to be a good alternative to the car. The planned hike in rail fares will be bad for people and bad for the environment.

Earlier this year, residents of a North Wales village won their fight against a planned seven-lane super-highway that would have destroyed many homes and increased noise and air pollution. Villager Judith Hough tells us how they did it.
