DRD END-OF-YEAR REPORT ON PUBLIC SERVICE AGREEMENT AND BUSINESS PLAN TARGETS FOR 2007-08

The Department conducts a quarterly monitoring exercise to report on progress against our Public Service Agreement (PSA) and Business Plan targets that were recorded in the Business Plan 2007-08. The End-of-Year Report for 2007-08, that records the position at 31 March 2008, has been approved by the Minister.

Of the eight 2005-08 PSA targets, three were on track for achievement, three were achieved, one is likely to be achieved but with some delay and one was not achieved. Progress against the 55 Business Plan targets can be summarised as follows:

  • 43 achieved
  • 1 substantially achieved;
  • 1 on track for achievement; and
  • 10 not achieved.

Full details can be found in the Report itself. It should be noted that there were originally 57 Business Plan targets contained within the DRD Business Plan 2007-08. However,  two targets (3.4 & 3.5) were formally closed off in the third quarter of 2007-08 following the transfer of responsibility for Planning Policy Statements on both Housing and the Coast from DRD to DOE.

DRD CORPORATE PLAN 2008-11 AND BUSINESS PLAN 2008-09

The Department’s Corporate Plan 2008-11 and Business Plan 2008-09 have been approved by the Minister.

The Corporate Plan sets out the context in which the Department operates and our key strategic challenges over the next three years as we work towards meeting our key objectives of:

  • Supporting the economy by maintaining and developing safe and sustainable transportation networks; promoting airport and harbour services; addressing regional imbalance in infrastructure;
  • and shaping the long-term future of the region; and
  • Contributing to the health and well-being of the community and the protection of the environment by maintaining and developing the policy and regulatory environment which provides sustainable, high quality water and sewerage services.

The Business Plan outlines how DRD will make a difference in the year ahead. It also includes the Department’s Balanced Scorecard which details our targets for 2008-09 as we work towards delivering our longer-term Public Service Agreement targets set out in the Programme for Government 2008-11.
